Shinigami Template

Name: Akiyama Enma

Nickname: None

Age: 743

Visual Age: 22

Gender: Female

Appearance: Enma is fairly tall, standing at around 5' 9". Her build is toned, but not bulky and still maintaining a feminine shape. She is light-skinned, though not enough to be considered pale. Her hair is a vivid red worn parted to the side with some bangs to the right of her face, it extends down to the small of her back, seeming to taper off with length. Her eyes are an interesting orange-gold multitone depending on the lighting. Her features would be considered classically beautiful, though she lacks caring about it. She has modified her uniform to take away the left sleeve, wearing a simple black material guard on her left forearm. The lower half consists of a rather short and fitted pair of black shorts with a piece of material hanging freely around her left leg down to her ankle. She wears a pair of simple black, strappy heels instead of sandals. A red sash is tied around her waist with the ends hanging some down her right side in which she keeps her zanpakuto when she has it on her.

Personality: Generally laid-back and level-headed, Enma can seem very cold and self-absorbed until one gets to know her, in which case she can be very personable. She's anything if not honest, sometimes to a fault as others may not like what she has to say. She is not one to be seen picking fights, and will only get involved when she believes it to be her business, or that the outcome will affect her or those around her in some way. She is also quite understated, as she is one of the last people you will see boasting about her own power or accomplishments. Though she loves sleeping and does so often, it's not exactly restful and on days when it's more obvious, she tends to be a bit more quick-tempered. Her sleeping habits may leave others thinking she is lazy, though she always makes sure everything around her is well taken care of. She tends to wander around and can be somewhat hard to pin down at times between the human world and Soul Society. Her open-minded views and value on free thinking lead her to have a rather unique view on the trouble between Shinigami and Hollows. Unlike some Shinigami who seem to have a hatred for Hollows, she views it as a universal and unending cycle of struggle, with neither side ever being truly the winner or right. What she seeks to attain and maintain in it is balance.

Likes: Sleeping, sweets, singing, wandering, nature

Dislikes: Closed-mindedness, liars, braggarts, complaining, abuses of power

Special Characteristics: Enma is a very good singer and is quite good at opera, but only sings when she believes no one is really around. Her voice when heard from a distance can lead to some interesting misunderstandings, as it can sound ghostlike and cause fear if heard by humans, or supernatural entities to become curious.

Division: 7th Division

Rank: Captain

History: Cold, calculating, and uncaring, Enma was an assassin in her human life. She would take any job - kill any target - if the price offered was right. The darker circles knew her well and often employed her for the targets they wanted to make suffer, as in the underground she had become known for a particular style - the target would have their body brutalized and broken until they cried out loudly enough, only to be beheaded mid-scream. Any body found with evidence of such a death was immediately accredited to her by those in the know.

To those above ground, she was a samurai to a local daimyo. The public position and the daimyo himself held off suspicion and provided her with a good supply of those with plenty of money and a use for her services. It also gave her an afluent dwelling - indeed even for being a woman, the perks she got as a samurai and the payments as an assassin provided her with an extraordinarily well-off lifestyle for the time.

There was one thing she never spoke about. She had been born into a poor farming family, which was why she so valued the wealth and prestige she had earned thus far. When she was 15 years old, her parents were brutally murdered and it haunted her like a dark shadow that those behind it remained unknown. She had become what she was now to gain the rank and power to avenge them, never giving thought to the victims she had already taken if it furthered her goals. She had vowed that with the power she possessed now, when she found out who was behind their deaths then she would be sure they suffered the worst one thus far.

Her attitude outside of work was equally as cold, in fact nothing really mattered to her except for her work and her own goals. That didn't stop a fellow samurai of the daimyo from developing feelings towards her - not that she wasn't beautiful and worthy of such affections - she just viewed it as useless, having neither the time nor desire for it. With this attitude of hers she continually refused to accept or return anything of it. Seeing her unwilling to leave the life she had serving the daimyo, he told her the one thing that could tear her away: Hard-working and proud as they were, her parents had fallen into debt and hidden it from her. Unable to repay the debt, their lives were taken instead - by the very daimyo they served now.

The reaction she had to this information was bigger than expected, though she hid it from his view. That very night she went to face the daimyo himself. Though knowing it to be certain death with all those who guarded him like her, she had already given up her life thus far and thought only of her goal. Approaching the daimyo as if to speak to him, she quickly drew a dagger and plunged it into his heart. Though it wasn't the death she wanted for him, it would have to do as several katana plunged into her from different directions. She met her own death mere moments after his.

In her final moments she felt a surge of accomplishment at having done away with the one behind her parents' death, though she felt foolish for having had him in front of her for so long without knowing. Finally to pass through her was pity, tinged with regret: for all those she killed under that damned man's direction that may have been like her parents themselves. Looking over her own dead body, she had no idea how much that last emotion would affect her next life. By all means it already had, she should have been a hollow.

She didn't wander for long before a rather unwilling shinigami came to bury her soul. He knew well the crimes she had commited, as he had been the one to take care of her victims as well. Though unable to understand the force that kept her human, duty required him to bury her soul as well. Despite being unable to remember him, he found her in the Soul Society and served as a guide to be sure she didn't fall back into her behaviors as a human. Even if unknowing, she carried the lessons she had learned with her into the next life to shape who she is now. She wasn't to get off too easily - although unable to remember the lives she claimed as a human, she still hears the dying screams she forced out of them every time she tries to sleep - a reminder not to fall back into such a state.

Under his guidance she grew quickly with the latent talent she possessed as a human. She also joined the 7th division, which he lead as lieutenant with her rising to 3rd seat. The person she was as a human never resurfaced, being replaced by a protector of sorts. When it came time for the leadership of the division to step down, a great amount of fighting started over who should take the positions. With the backing of the current division leaders, Enma was voted into the position of captain by the majority of her newfound peers.

RP Sample:
The sun was setting over a loosely forested hill, casting shades f orange and yellow over the already red and orange colors of the changing fall leaves. She lay there sprawled out in the center of a small meadow with the tall grass nearly concealing her completely. She was in her favorite place doing one of her favorite activites - or at least trying to. Her breathing which had become deep and slow picked back up as her eyebrows pulled together and any signs of peacefullness left her face. Her left hand lifting to place it over her forehead, she let out a low groan as she ran it back through her hair. Finally opening her eyes - orange and gold flecked under this lighting - only a moment's glance at the sky caused a disatisfied frown to shape itself on her face.

The screaming hadn't held off for long again - because of it, minutes seemed like hours when she was trying to sleep... or maybe it was the other way around? Either way the sky had already been taking on an orange tint when she fell asleep, so she couldn't have gotten that much. Closing her eyes once more and taking a deep breath to attempt sleeping again, a faint echo made its way to her ears from somewhere downhill. It was getting closer and after a few more repeats of the same sound, the realization made her groan once more, "No..." Someone was calling her name - and growing more and more frantic trying to find her from the sound of it. Mulling over the thought of running off to find another place to sleep for a moment, she finally stood up. Sadly she was a bit too dutiful for that.

Just a few more moments passed before the girl walked into the meadow: she was relatively plain with dark hair and eyes, she wore the standard shinigami uniform, and a large smile broke across her face when she finally found her target, "There you are! I was afraid I wasn't going to find you, you know how desperate they get when you disappear for just a moment. The Soul Society needs you back. Urgently."

Enma couldn't help the questioning look that crossed her face, "Why didn't they just send a Hell Butterfly?"

The girl simply smiled wider, "They wanted this one done in person."

The girl's expression made her curious, as she obviously knew something. With a sigh, she judged that her time to try to sleep was obviously up, and the others back in the Soul Society would just have to deal with her as she was. She opened a senkaimon, allowing the girl to go through first and following closely behind. She could have sworn she heard the girl giggle say something under her breath, sounding like something about a captain. Enma merely scratched her head wondering what they did now as the senkaimon closed behind them.

I only ask that you explain your rise to the 7th Division Captaincy in your History. After that, I'll approve it.
